Kharkov State Academy of Railway Transport is a state higher education institution of the 4th level of accreditation, subordinated to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine.

Institute of Retraining and Professional Development

The Institute of Retraining and Professional Development provides the following graduate and professional development courses:

Master’s Degree in 15 areas of study connected with Railway Transport. Course duration – 2 years. Part-time education.

A second higher education for Specialist’s degree in all the main specializations of the Academy. Course duration – 22 months. Part-time education.

Professional Development Courses both in the mainstream specializations of the Academy and in specific fields of training (depending on the requirements of an enterprise). Classes can be given both in the Academy and on the customer’s premises.

Faculty of Transport Operation Control

Today, the faculty comprises 3 departments:

  • Field Operation Control
  • Railway Stations and Junctions
  • Freight and Trade Management

The faculty also trains students in Freight Organization and Railway Transport Management and offers the following specializations:

  • Organization of International Freight
  • Organization of Customs Supervision
  • Shipping

The Faculty of Automation, Telemechanics and Communications

The faculty comprises three departments:

  • Automation and Computer-Aided Train Dispatching
  • Transport Communication
  • Specialized Computer Systems

And three general science departments:

  • Physics
  • Electric Engineering and Electric Machines
  • Computer Science and Programming

Today, the faculty trains Electric Engineers specializing in Transport Automation as well as Automation and Train Control System, Computer Systems in Railway Transport and Automated Communication Systems in Railway Transport.

Faculty of Construction

The Faculty comprises three departments:

  • Railway Structures and Track Facilities
  • Construction, Track, Loading and Unloading Machinery
  • Building Materials and Construction

And two general engineering departments:

  • Structural Mechanics and Hydraulics
  • Descriptive Geometry and Computer Graphics

At present, the faculty numbers over 2,200 full-time and part-time students in the following areas of study:

Railway Construction and Track Facilities

Industrial and Civil Engineering

Lift-and-Carry, Building, Road-Making and Land-Improvement Machinery and Equipment

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The faculty trains students in the following areas of study:

  • Rolling Stock and Specialized Machinery in Railway Transport (comprises two specializations: Locomotive Production, Operation and Repair as well as Train Carriage Production, Operation and Repair)
  • Electric Transport
  • Electric Systems and Transport Facilities
  • Heating Engineering
  • Quality, Standardization and Certification

Faculty of Transport Economics

The faculty consists of 7 departments:

  • Accounting and Audit
  • Economics and Business Management
  • Economics of Railway Transport
  • Finances
  • Management of International Business Activities in Transport
  • Transport Marketing
  • Business Management in Transport

It also has a general science department (Department of Economic Theory).

The Faculty provides full-time and part-time Bachelor’s, Specialist’s and Master’s programmes as well as post-graduate courses in the following areas of study:

  • General Management and Management of International Business Activities
